Well, Spain edged Argentina 1-0 on Sunday to close out the World Cup. It was a long run of great football, and it feels a little strange waking up this week without a match to plan the day around.

The Perros Santos project is hitting a huge milestone. Launched in July 2023 by a dedicated group of local dog lovers and advocates, this 100% volunteer-run organization is celebrating its third anniversary.
Currently, there are no animal shelters or rescues for dogs and cats in Todos Santos. To help curb the overpopulation of unwanted animals on the streets, Perros Santos provides free, monthly spay and neuter clinics. The impact so far has been massive. In just three years, Dr. Alan Ortiz and his veterinary team have performed 2,270 surgeries.
The community brings in their pets, and volunteers actively identify and bring in homeless animals, averaging about 70 sterilizations every single month. Each surgery costs the project $40 USD, which includes post-op medication. This is only possible because the dedicated vet team works for less than half their normal fee, and Mercado Ranchero generously provides the space for the clinics.
To keep this vital work going, they need our support. Even with discounted rates, they have had to raise $90,000 USD over the last three years to cover operating expenses.

Upcoming Free Clinic: Sunday, July 26 If your furry friends need care, or you know a neighborhood stray that could use some help, the amazing volunteer crew at Perros Santos is hosting their next free sterilization clinic this weekend right at Mercado Ranchero. You do need an appointment to grab a spot, and here is how the morning schedule looks for drop-offs:

Mind the Mangos. We are hitting peak mango season, and the local trees are dropping fruit faster than anyone can keep up with. While having fresh mangos in the yard is a great perk, the ones left to bake on the ground will quickly ferment and attract massive swarms of wasps, flies, and ants. Take a few minutes this week to rake up the drops from your property. If you have a tree producing more than you can handle, put a box out on the street for your neighbours to grab before the bugs do.
