Our local indie bookstore, Tecolote, is moving to a new downtown home during the first week of September.
Jenelle and the team are raising a little help from the community to build new shelves, add gathering tables, commission a hand-painted sign, and cover expenses while they’re closed during the move.

Share the Beach: Sea Turtle Nesting Season is Here
August means our beautiful local beaches are hosting some very important seasonal guests. We are right in the middle of peak sea turtle nesting season in Todos Santos and El Pescadero.
If you are heading to the ocean this week, a few small adjustments make a massive difference for these endangered visitors.
Keep vehicles off the sand. ATVs and trucks crush hidden nests and leave deep tire ruts that trap tiny hatchlings trying to reach the water.
Leash your dogs. Even well behaved pets naturally want to dig in the sand and can easily destroy a fragile nest.
Ditch the bright flashlights. If you are walking at night, use a red light. Bright white phone lights confuse nesting mothers and disorient babies.
If you spot a turtle nesting, give her plenty of quiet space and notify a local volunteer group like Tortugueros Las Playitas!
