What started as a Plascencia Family anniversary block party at Jazamango in 2017 has grown into one of Baja Sur’s biggest culinary weekends. Pescadero Bomberos
Chief Griselda Sotelo and her crew of 16 volunteers handle every fire, highway wreck, and medical call from Pescadero down through Elias Calles.
They do not get a government paycheck for this. The whole operation runs entirely on donations. It is on the community to keep the ambulance fueled, the water tanker full, and the gear stocked.
If you have spare tools, working radios, medical supplies, or can just chip in to help cover their fuel costs, send it their way. They are the ones showing up when things go wrong.

There is a great new spot to cool down up in Las Playitas called Ojalá Gelato, located right between Poke Loco and 5 Tacos & Beer. They transformed an old palapa into a really cool all-white hangout complete with sand floors and hanging swing chairs. They serve 12 rotating flavors of artisanal gelato, and every single one is completely sugar-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free (vegan). It is the perfect, relaxed place to grab a healthy treat and just hang out for a bit.

Hello, my name is Cristina Madariaga. I am a professional pilot by career and now retired. I arrived in Todos Santos in 2016 and started working at the Rancho Pescadero restaurant. After a few months, I felt the desire to create my own place and begin this new adventure. I called it La Palapa del Sabor. It has been a wonderful experience full of ups and downs. After a few location changes, I finally have my own space. Even though it is a bit away from the town's hustle and bustle, it is a true hidden gem in the mountains of Todos Santos. El Niño conditions are expected to develop this year, and forecasts point to a potentially more active Pacific hurricane season.
Here in Baja California Sur that usually shows up later in the summer, with the main window running August through October, though activity can sometimes build earlier depending on how conditions develop.
Warmer ocean, heavier nights, and a higher chance of stronger systems tracking through the Pacific as we move into peak season.
